Vietnam. The Quiet American and Anthony Bourdain were the two things that had shaped my conception of Vietnam. I've long said that Vietnam is the one country I MUST visit before leaving Asia. The Vietnam War has always fascinated me, travel shows paint it as the cultural and culinary highlight of SEA, and plus it just seems... exotic in the truest sense of the word. My dream finally came true recently when I got the chance to spend a week in the north of Vietnam.
Recently I had to take a trip to the Thai-Myanmar border, specifically the towns of Mae Sot and Myawaddy. Here is a quick write up for anyone needing to do the same!
Chances are you've heard isolation tanks mentioned before. I believe these tanks provide an experience unlike anything else. If you happen to be visiting Thailand there are only two locations to float, one in Bangkok and one in Koh Samui. I recently was able to try the Thaisolate Float Spa located on the island of Koh Samui and it was an incredible experience that I'd recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Tat Mok National Park is a gorgeous park located in the mountains just outside of Muang Phetchabun, in Phetchabun Province. The park is a sprawling 290 sq/km (or 110 sq/m) of rugged mountains, waterfalls, streams, and stunning natural beauty. Recently some friends and myself made the drive up through the mountains to do some hiking and to see the waterfalls!
