I'm Alec, and this happens to be my blog. Since my first time traveling I knew that it'd be something I'd pursue for the rest of my life, so I decided to leave behind my "normal" life in pursuit of a lifestyle that would allow me to explore the world. This blog serves to chronicle my experiences as I travel abroad!
Why I Travel
Throughout my life I always had a hard time sitting still. I always felt most comfortable when I was being exposed to new challenges and experiencing new things. I graduated college with a degree in Music; this was a great experience that was both rewarding and immensely enjoyable, but it left something to be desired in regards to a "life-trajectory". I found myself working jobs that where easy, fun, and provided a very decent lifestyle - but were ultimately unfufilling. This is what ultimately led me to the decision to quit my job, sell my stuff, and begin traveling. I'm traveling with no real end date, and plan on making a living while traveling through teaching, freelance design, and whatever else I can come up with!
My first time traveling was a cruise I took with my family when I was fairly young. I got to take a cruise to the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. I don't remember much from this trip, but I do remember how excited I was to see all the airports and fly on an airplane. After that I didn't get to leave the country again for quite some time, but I have been able to explore my surroundings here in America. My first big trip was in 2013 when I was able to visit Thailand. It was an amazing experience, and it ultimately led to my decision to travel again.
More About Me
I've spent almost all of my 20-something years of life in the great state of Kentucky, and will always consider it my home. I am an avid musician (I play saxophone, piano, DJ, and produce). I've also been working in graphic design for the past 5 years. I hope to continue practicing and pursuing these passions throughout my life.
I am always in search of delicious food, good coffee, and a nice book.
